LG released the BH100 awhile back, but now the prices are starting to fall, especially in light of Toshiba’s announcement of selling a $100 HDDVD player at Walmart. The LG BH100 is now available in the HD Store and packs a big punch of features, the least of which is the ability to play HD DVDs and Blu-Ray movies in the same player. That’s a pretty good way to insure your purchase is not wasted when the format war closes.
Features of the LG BH100:
- plays Blu-ray and HD DVD high-definition discs (selectable output resolution: 1080p signals available through HDMI output only; 720p/1080i signals available through HDMI or component video)
- plays DVD-Video, DVD-R & DVD-RW, and DVD+R & DVD+RW
- selectable 720p/1080i video upconversion for DVD (upconverted video available through HDMI output only)
- HDMI digital output (combines video and multichannel audio with HDCP copy protection)
Be warned, there is one drawback to the BH100 HD player, which is that it will not play audio CDs.
