It looks like the industry analysts are at it again, talking up what Blu-Ray will become by the year 2012. According the Entertainment Merchant Association Blu-Ray disc sales will have surpassed DVD sales by 2012. I love Blu-Ray, but I still don't think there will be that many Blu-Ray players in peoples homes by then, at least to surpass DVD...maybe VHS.
The economy would have to be doing some serious 180's before I would even start to consider statistics like this to be accurate. Especially since they predict that in 2012 blu-Ray disc sales will be a $9.5 billion dollar market, which would be up from it's 2007 market value of $260 million. There are a lot of zeroes missing in that equation, besides, I'm still holding out for HD-DVD.
