Has everything you need in a bluray player, but features some annoyances May 11, 2008 Get ready for pure HD heaven. Has everything you need in a Bluray Player. Displays beautiful picture, creates great sound and has great features, however Samsung needs to work on the loading times and button response times. Bluray movies can take up to a minute or more to load. Another annoyance is the eject button on the player may take 5 to 10 seconds to respond once pressed. Samsung makes great products, but has been known for these issues in the past. I hope they get it right one day. To Samsung's credit, the remote controller is a lot more responsive than past players I've owned. I would recommend if the annoyances don't bother you.
Blu-ray May 7, 2008 Easy to set up and use. Different from DVD players. We enjoy watching the Blu-rays.
Clear picture and great sound. May 2, 2008 I just got this unit today in the mail. I must admit, it is a okay unit. First thing I did was update the firmware, I downloaded from the Samsung website. Update the firmware was very simple. I am kinda computer wiz so making a DVD from ISO file was simple task for me.
I was able to play many DVD that I had already and it does project it very nicely on my new Samsung Ln46A550p TV (1080p). Very clear picture and very nice sound. Blu-Ray movie displays crystal clear.
As I searching for DVD to play, I had some problem with some DVDs. I was able to play about 75% DVD I already had. Some DVDs just does not get recognized by this player. When I put a DVD, it just saids "no disk", Not sure why.
Overall, I am content with this unit. I got it used for $250, so I cannot complain either. I got another $50 refund from the seller, due to seller's misrepresentation of the product. (So total purchase price I spend on purchasing this unit is $200 + shipping/handling) Also, I figured instead of spending $100 or so on upconvert DVD player to work with my new TV, I decided to go directly to Blu-Ray, since the Blu-Ray is now standard of HD DVDs.
Update: I am still checking all DVDs as to which one plays. I got another message "This disk cannot be played" I have no idea why some DVDs works and other does not.
So far I was able to play all Blu-Ray DVDs, I cannot complain.
Another great thing is that my TV (LN46A550P) and my Blu-Ray player (BD-P1400) communicate to each other using Anyway+, which is feature that will put TV on automatically and switch the source to Blu-Ray when I turn on the Blu-Ray player to play. And vice versa, if I switch TV input to Blu-Ray player, the Blu-Ray player automatically comes on.

I HAVE OWNED THIS UNIT FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW AND HAVE BEEN NOTHINIG BUT PLEASED.
I CURRENTLY HAVE THIS UNIT GOING THROUGH AN ONKYO 705 SERIES RECEIVER TO A 1080P SAMSUNG LCD. I HAVE THE AUDIO SET UP WITH A 7.1 CHANNEL SYSTEM.
ANYHOW, DISCS LOAD IN A SHORT TIME. ALSO, THIS PLAYER WILL BITSTREAM ALL OF YOUR AUDIO TO YOUR RECEIVER TO BE DECODED. THIS WAS A BIG DEAL TO ME SINCE I AM ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE THAT WANTS TO SEE TRUEHD OR DTS-MA LIGHT UP ON MY DISPLAY SO THAT I KNOW I AM GETTING WHAT I AM PAYING FOR!!
I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY DISC PLAY OR CONNECTION ISSUES AS HAVE BEEN REPORTED BY OTHER USERS. MY ONLY ADVICE ON THIS IS TO KEEP THE FIRMWARE UPDATED EITHER BY LAN OR BY CALLING SAMSUNG AND REQUESTING A FIRMWARE DISC.
THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT THIS IS A VERY ACCEPTABLE UNIT THAT PERFORMS ALL OF THE FUNCTIONS THAT A PERSON WOULD WANT IN A BLU-RAY PLAYER. I STRONGLY SUGGEST THIS TO ANYONE WANTING TO GO HD.
Recieved my BR Player 4/24/2008 and April 27, 2008 I just got my New Home Theater system. A Samsung LN52A650A 52-inch LCD TV, The Samsung HT-TXQ120 Home Theater System and this BD-P1400 Blu-Ray player.Everything arrived Friday 4/18/2008 and the BR Player on 4/24/2008. I did an update on the TV. The system rocks and then I get the BR Player. It wouldn't load any BR disk. I did 2 updates and still no BR disk would run. They all went to 1080P - 1 -0000 on the front display. I called Samsung the girl asked me ro play a regular DVD. They all worked fine. She said she would mail me out a new FirmWare update. On Saturday 4/26/08 I saw a new firmare on the Samsung website. I dounloaded it and burned the ISO file to a CDR and ran the update. I was all excited that this may fix the problem. I was hoping that the BR disk I have ( Alien vs Pred. Requim and Day after Tomorrow) might just work. Well neither worked still. I called the retailer and told them the problem and mentioned that Samsung was sending me a FirmWare update in the mail. They said if it didn't work after that they would swap out my unit. So I am still waiting to see if this will work. I love samsung products but this system is lacking. I have the same issues as others. System will not eject the BR disk either. I always have to turn it off and then I will hit the Eject. The player then powers on and ejects the disk. Sheesh it is so slow in responding to any other commands.
