My wife and I went to see her Vegas concert in 2004. We were both blown away with her performance and stage presence. Every penny spent is soo worth it. If you think her CDs are awesome, seeing her perform live is definitely an experience you’ll never forget. I just ordered this Blu Ray version and I cannot wait to get it in the mail. This 5 disc set has everything Bladerunner to date.
The image quality is spectacular. The film has never looked better. Kudos to Warner Bros and Ridley Scott.

In a shocking announcement yesterday, Toshiba has stepped out of the format war. Toshiba was the leading force in HD-DVD and will no longer be manufacturing HD-DVD players, or discs. Now is the time to buy Blu-Ray players and Blu-Ray DVDs with confidence.
From the press release:
“We carefully assessed the long-term impact of continuing the so-called ‘next-generation format war’ and concluded that a swift decision will best help the market develop,” said Atsutoshi Nishida, President and CEO of Toshiba Corporation. “While we are disappointed for the company and more importantly, for the consumer, the real mass market opportunity for high definition content remains untapped and Toshiba is both able and determined to use our talent, technology and intellectual property to make digital convergence a reality.”
While a HD-DVD player will still be an upgrade, expect future studio releases to only be in Blu-Ray. For now, HD-DVD owners will still be able to enjoy a cost effective way to view up-converted standard definition and HD-DVDs.

There aren’t a whole lot of details yet available on what will be on the HD DVD version of Charlie Wilson’s War, but there are a handful of featurettes that Tom Hanks fans can look forward to. There is a making of segment, a who is Charlie Wilson, along with the usual web connectivity goodies.

THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS! January 26, 2008
The LG Super Blu combo player has made my life a lot easier. I jumped into high def this past summer with HD DVD and built up a library of 48 movies. Of course, as my luck would have it, the tides have turned considerably in blu ray’s favor, so rather than give up on my HD DVD collection, and not wanting to take up extra space with a blu ray player, this LG is the ideal solution. It delivers impressive audio and video on both formats and upconverts standard dvds to near high def resolution. Set up was a snap and the player is very user friendly. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone who already started an HD DVD collection and is now ready to enter the “blu” world.

Finally got to see it January 9, 2008
Not going to review the movie itself, just the hi-def quality. I found the quality to be excellent. The movie was sharp and clear and the colors were excellent. Dark scenes looked fine to me but dark scenes will always look less spectacular than bright scenes. The sound quality was great too. Sorry for such a short review but I just wanted to post for those that may have gotten the impression the image quality might not live up to full high-def standards when it clearly does.

American Psycho was one of the most chilling movies I have ever seen and the idea of seeing it in HD heightens my anticipation. This was before Christian Bale became Batman, this was before him making it mainstream, this was his defining character in my opinion. So how is the quality - in a word: FANTASTIC! The video quality is awesome, as only Blu-ray can provide, and the sound is captivating. I’ve heard people complaining about the transfer of this film and I disagree. The “washed out” or “grainy” look people are complaining about has nothing to do with the transfer - it’s just how the movie is supposed to look. The washed out affect is there to reflect the mind of the killer, and how he sees things.

I was very impressed with the HD DVD. The picture in picture feature on this title is the real star of this HD DVD. I loved this film and the bright colors and the Dolby Plus Plus soundtrack really springs life into hi-def title.

If you don’t care about all the fluff, why not get straight to the meat and potatoes, Dish Network will be offering an HD only package for it’s customers. It looks like starting next week there will be a $29.99 package available that has around 70 national HD channels.
Don’t expect the Dish Network package to remain stagnent either, according to DN they will expand the base package of HD channels to 100 by year end.
