Hardcore gamers are fully aware that todays requirements to play PC games at full scale graphic potential is very taxing on a system. HD is not just big on TVs but it's also a big deal when it comes to PCs and notebooks and AMD now has an offering to please the toughest crowds.
AMD announced today that they will be releasing a new HD Chip, the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3000 Series, for notebook computers. This new graphics processor will allow faster processing of HD content for video games. In addition, the processor will allow the viewing of full HD content via Blu-Ray or HDDVD drives.
Notebook users can play the latest Blu-ray and HD-DVD movies in full-HD 1080p resolution (HD display required) using ATI Avivo HD Technology which frees the CPU for other tasks.

Everyone who has an internet connection can tell you that speed talks and today competition has driven speeds through the roof. With increased internet speeds, different media distribution methods become a possibility. Already, Xbox 360 owners are capable of downloading HD movies from the Xbox Live market place. Much like Xbox, Comcast has announced that they will be offering HD movies for download, but full movies delivered in just 4 MINS!
Expect speeds of 100 megabits per second, which will allow for the super fast HD movie downloads. Initially in 2008 Comcast plans on having an inventory of 1,000 HD movies to choose from.

Panasonic has announced that they will be expanding one of their most popular lines of HDTVs. Viera HD TVs are Plasma and are capable of displaying full 1080p resolution. Today, they announced that their 2008 lineup will include a new 46" Viera model.
As of this posting, you can purchase the 42" Panasonic Viera Plasma TV for $1479.99. Full HD never looked so good and will only get better in 2008.

... not likely. Sorry to get your hopes up, but it looks like there are rumors floating around that Toshiba is helping to develop an Xbox 360 with a built in HD player.
"It's got nothing to do with us," said a spokesperson to gadget site Stuff. "But we know Microsoft doesn't want to include the HD DVD so as not to limit the user's experience."
Personally, I don't see the option being completely thrown out the window, just no time soon. Perhaps once HD and/or Blu-Ray surfaces as a clear cut winner in the format war and HD players become more mainstream we'll see the built in combo. However, for now and in the immediate future don't expect an Xbox 360 with a built in HD player.

Uh oh! Warner Brothers has made a mistake in the boxing of their latest Harry Potter Years 1-5 Blu-Ray package. It's being reported that a number of the sets were went out with "Goblet of Fire" being an HD DVD disc, as opposed to Blu-Ray.

The Digital Entertainer HD EVA8000 is the latest set-top media receiver from Netgear. The EVA8000 will allow consumers to stream and search HD content from Windows computers and Mac's.
The Digital Entertainer HD discovers HD movies, TV shows, music files, and personal photos on a home network, across multiple PCs, and organizes these into a single media library displayed on a TV. It has a remote, a HDMI port that displays video resolution up to 1080p on big-screen TVs and optical digital audio output to transmit sound to the digital audio receiver.
The box comes ready to run with capabilities to stream unprotected media formats. However, it is easily setup to stream protected content with some configuration and setup of your Windows Vista or XP media center.

While this will not directly effect any consumers, it's definitely a step in the right direction for Microsoft and creators of HD DVD content. Yet just another tool in HDDVD's toolbox that will help them overcome the competition, see Blu-Ray.
The emulator was created by Microsoft to help speed up the process of creating, testing, and bringing to market interactive elements of an HD DVD for their 360 HD add on. A single developer was able to save costs by reducing the number of test discs per month from 200 down to 50 and save more than 100 work hours per month. Of course this all translates into lower prices at the shelf.
"The authoring process for HD DVD is more complex and expensive than the process for standard DVD, and as with any new technology, it can require a lot of time and resources," said John Harrington, CEO of NetBlender.
