According to the latest PR release from TheLookAndSoundOfPerfect.com, more consumers now than ever are connecting online through their HD DVD purchases. This is in part due to the major successful releases in the HD DVD exclusive format, Transformers and Heroes: Season One. The fans are using the web-connected features of these HD DVDs and to an extent never before seen in traditional standard definition titles.
"Transformers," which continues to be one of the top selling titles in any high definition format, had more than 80,000 unique online users, with 31% returning to download additional content as it became available. Universal's current web-enabled titles, which include "Heroes: Season One", "Knocked Up", and "Evan Almighty", saw an average of 30% of HD DVD purchasers going online to download content and connect with other fans.
The online features with downloadable HD content is possible because of the latest HDi technology. Every HD player is required to be compatible with the technology, which allows web-connected features such as added creator content, which helps with repeat viewings.

The Sony HDR-HC5 is an excellent HD camcorder. Available for well below the price of the top-of-the-line HDR-HC7, the HC5 aims more at the point-and-shoot crowd. Lacking the HC7’s “Cam Control Dial” for manual adjustments, the HC5 relies solely on touch screen interface. True, Sony has packed a lot of features into the HC5, but accessing them can be a chore. Many users may never bother, settling for the camcorder’s superior automatic controls.

I love the camera so far. The still pictures as well as the video are truly amazing with the 1080i HD. I'm using it for my two passions - my family and paranormal investigations. For the latter Sony's Night Shot can't be beat. Personally I dont feel that the extra 200-300 dollars for the HC7 is worth it, but to each their own.

The camera has lots of features, mostly accessable from its touchscreen display. However, you can set the camera in "easy" mode, which selects a reasonable set of default settings. I confess that's the only mode I used, and the results were impressive. As I learn more about the camera I may fiddle with more advanced settings.

Central cable provider Brighthouse has announced that they will be increasing their HD channel line up to 50 high definition channels. Currently the cable provider only offers 15-20 HD channels, depending on the service area, so this will be a much needed increase.
"We will continue our leadership role as the first and best HDTV provider in Central Florida as we expand our HD programming offerings," Christian Fenger, president of Bright House Networks' Central Florida unit, said in a statement.
The channels will be added over an 18 month process and begin on February 1st 2008. No specific channels were mentioned, but with 50 being added you are assured to get at least a few good ones.

Great for the price November 3, 2007
I've owned this set for a couple months now and can say it is a great bargain at $475. The HD picture is incredible and the picture is bright and crisp. The downsides come from the grey to dark contrast and the remote. When you view dark movies like the Matrix it is really hard to see the contrast but when you see dark contrast in HD it is less noticable. The remote is the biggest problem with the set... I suggest you get another. It lags and you have to press it twice to get it to respond. It was remarkable that such a nice TV couldn't come with a decent remote. For the money I paid it was a steal to other sets on the market. Olivia is a new brand but it makes good TVs.

Excellent picture quality for the price May 15, 2007
Purchased to replace standard TV - looking to go to hi-def flat panel without spending over $1000.
Setup is easy right out of the box - no issues at all. Everything worked perfectly.
Picture quality with hi-def channels is outstanding - it's shocking to see the difference. Quality with standard channels is less impressive, but nothing bad. It did not come with a usefull manual. Setting up picture-in-picture has not yet been sucessful.
For the money this is a superb display.

Today LG announced that their next generation of dual-format high definition players will be using system-on-a-chip method(SoC). The deal struck with Broadcom will allow the best support for playing ALL high definition DVDs, instead of being committed to just HD DVDs or Blu-Ray DVDs.
Jin-Yong Kim, vice president of LG Electronics' digital media research lab, said: "Utilizing Broadcom's BCM7440 SoC, our new Super Blu player provides the finest user experience for playing back the widest range of high definition titles."
Almost makes a person want to wait before delving into a certain format. However, as Christmas draws closer both sides of the format battle are starting to slash prices. I still can't help the feeling that the consumer are the only ones that are going to pay for this stupid fight.
The current dual-format high definition player is the LG BH100, which has been known to leave some features of HD-DVDs out of playback. These issues will hopefully be resolved with the second generation of dual format players.
